Successful Hiring Requires Focusing on Values by Navid Dayzad T he success of an immigration law firm relies heavily on the strength of your team of attorneys and support staff. Therefore, hiring the most appropriate employee the first time around is critical. There are many factors that determine whether a candidate is the right fit for a particular position in your immigration law firm, such as competence, education, experience, skills, behavioral styles, and values. This article focuses on the role u of values in making a long-term, successful hire. Finding an employee whose values fit the position is essential. Our values are our invisible drivers which indicate why we take the actions we do. Values direct our constant decision-making on the job and determine how we allocate our resources. Therefore, it is important to first identify what are your primary values. Based What Values Best Compliment Yours and Your Firm's? on this reflection, you can then select employees whose values compliment and harmonize with yours. In this way, you grow a team that is unified rather than fractured with tension. One way to categorize values is as follows: theoretical, utilitarian, social, individualistic, traditional, and aesthetic.
