ILA continues to grow even in the cur- rent economic climate with nearly a 1% increase in members in 2010 for a final
total of 11,343. 33% of AILA’s membership joined AILA more than 10 years ago. 1,773 new membership applications were pro- cessed during the year. Of these new mem- bers at least 38.18% are solo practitioners.
58 members joined as a result of AILA’s recruitment efforts, including 27 (a 61% re- turn rate) from our Member-Refer-A-Mem- ber Program. Targeted recruitment mailings were sent to areas in which AILA had con- ferences including Washington, D.C., Dallas and Oklahoma. Retention efforts included courtesy phone calls to new members, rec- ognition of member anniversaries including their first year, specialized e-mails to new conference attendees, and reminder calls to members who may be lapsing.
AILA’s payment plan program continues to be popular for renewing members. Nearly 650 members took advantage of this option. AILA successfully transitioned the majority of its dues collection process to online with 76% of members renewing electronically.
