A glossary of anatomical terms, photographic charts of the practice sequences, and resources for further study make this book a must-have resource for students and teachers alike.
Bringing Yoga to Life, by Donna Farhi, is a lovely and intelligent little book on the philosophy of yoga that encourages the reader to move his or her yoga practice beyond the yoga mat and into everyday life.
The Heart of Yoga: Developing a Personal Practice, by T.K.V. Desikachar, is a classic text that outlines a step- by-step sequence for developing a complete yoga practice according to viniyoga—yoga adapted to the needs of the individual.
Viniyogatherapy for the Low Back, Sacrum, and Hips, with renowned yoga therapist Gary Kraftsow, features short, simple therapeutic yoga practices designed to alleviate pain in, and maintain the health of the lower back, sacrum, and hips. Another key resource from the series is Viniyogatherapy for the Upper Back, Neck and Shoulders.
Insight Yoga, with Sarah Powers, (one of my favorite teachers) features more than four hours of practices accessible to all levels of students, including two Yin Yoga practices, two dynamic flow practices, and guided meditation.
A.M./P.M. Yoga for Beginners, with Rodney Yee and Patricia Walden, is an excellent resource for those new to the practice of yoga from two, internationally acclaimed teachers. Both Yee and Walden have additional excellent DVDs, including Yoga for Beginners (with Patricia) and The Yoga DVD Collection (with Rodney).
